CORONATION STREET villain Geoff Metcalfe could be about to set in place a devilish revenge scheme to ensure Alya Nazir knows he’s not to be messed with. Will she ever be able to get her grandmother Yasmeen Nazir away from her abuser as a result?

Geoff (played by Ian Bartholomew) has been controlling every aspect of Yasmeen’s (Shelley King) life since he arrived on Coronation Street almost two years ago. Although the abuse began subtly, recent weeks have seen more residents of Weatherfield witness just how evil this so-called Mr. Nice Guy really is.

This evening’s episode of the ITV soap saw Alya (Sair Khan) get a dose of his volatile nature and it was thanks to her grandmother things didn’t escalate. However, could a closing scene from the dramatic installment suggest the villain has devised a bitter plan of revenge to push the young businesswoman out of his life once and for all?

Even though there have been a couple of times a few characters have almost discovered the true extent of what’s happening in the Nazir household, Geoff has managed to throw them off the scent.

The one person he can’t manipulate, however, is Alya as she had persistently been a thorn in his side, stopping him from taking total control of his wife’s life.

After viewers saw in Monday night’s episode the villain faked a health scare to ensure he and Yasmeen were not going to be attending Zeedan Nazir’s (Qasim Akhtar) wedding, his nemesis wanted to discover if he’d ever planned on letting her grandmother go.

As the accusations flew, the pair locked horns and by the end of the episode, it seemed Geoff was going to take legal action against his beloved’s granddaughter.

With boyfriend Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and Torah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) on her side about Geoff’s controlling nature, Alya does have a support system in trying to expose the villain.

It was actually her other half who made her realize the five-star booking her grandmother’s husband had made for Zeedan’s wedding could have been a total fake.

Not one to shy away from confrontation, the ruthless businesswoman went head-to-head with her step-grandfather and uncovered his devilish plan.

Furious he’d been rumbled and being painted as a liar, the abusive character hit back at Yasmeen’s granddaughter.

“I’ve had enough of this. Coming round here and making stuff up. Trying to make me look bad,” he declared, to which Alya then questioned him about the police report she’d discovered about him.

Viewers will have seen a few weeks ago, Yasmeen’s granddaughter uncovered how Geoff had been in an altercation with a woman in the past.

Furious about what he was hearing, the villain pinned his step-granddaughter to the wall and issued her a terrifying threat.

“I’m warning you, you keep your nose out of my business or otherwise I really will lose my tempered then you’ll regret it,” he said through gritted teeth, with his wife barging in and dragged her husband away from the young woman.

I could sue her for what she said

Alya finally left, still frantically worried about her grandmother’s safety but Yasmeen seemed to have been manipulated by Geoff once more.

After confronting her husband about what she’d walked in on, the grandmother was left to feel she was in the wrong again.

Towards the end of the episode, the dust seemed to have settled, but the villain let slip how he could get payback on Alya for interfering.

Sat with his wife, the abusive character said: “She just needs to be careful, she’ll get herself into trouble going around slandering people. I could sue her for what she said.”

Yasmeen was terrified her husband was going to report her granddaughter to the police, but he assured he wasn’t going to take such extreme measures.

However, Geoff isn’t the most truthful of characters so could he have lied to his wife again and be set to sue Alya for slander?

This would come under the Defamation of character case law, whereby the villain would have to provide evidence to the authorities the “false” statements his wife’s granddaughter is making about him are indeed false.

He could have his own revenge plan thrown back in his face, however, as if he can’t provide such evidence, the case will be barred.

Viewers will have to wait and see if Alya is facing trouble with the law, but it seems Geoff’s days could be numbered.

Coronation Street continues Friday at 7:30 pm on ITV.
