The Gary Windass of Coronation Street is baffled next week after a heart-to-heart with Kelly Neelan. Recently, Gary (Mikey North) was startled to discover that Kelly was back on the cobbles, having enrolled in Weatherfield High, a high school.
The sly schemer has so far tried to keep his distance from Kelly, but when he finds her out in tears outside Number 7, they cross paths next week. Kelly explains to Gary that when her dad’s money stopped coming in she was thrown out of her private school, Oakhill.
She adds that her mother ended up owing thousands of pounds in fees as a result of missed payments. This revelation leaves Gary highly puzzled, as he secretly paid Kelly’s school fees for guilt. Gary killed Kelly’s father, Rick, in self-defence last year, but felt terrible when he thought about the implications for the teenage daughter of the villain. Knowing that it doesn’t add up to school fees, will Gary do some more detective work – and potentially risk exposing his secret to the process?
The ITV soap has already revealed that Kelly’s mom Claire will be appearing on the show in the coming weeks. Gary murdered Rick and buried his body last June, taking drastic action in a terrifying showdown with a ruthless shark loan. Upcoming scenes will see Gary struggling to keep his secret under wraps as the story starts to take centre stage again.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on ITV on Friday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m.
