Phil Mitchell of EastEnders will make an unexpected move after coming back to Walford next week. Phil (Steve McFadden) has not been seen since the fateful night of Dennis’s suicide, but he’s going back to the Square for a teenage funeral on Monday, March 23.
As Sharon (Letitia Dean) struggles to cope on the day of Dennis’s funeral, things take a dramatic turn when she sees Phil.
Viewers know that Sharon has been determined to speak to Phil for the last few weeks, having heard from Karen that he was responsible for the accident that cost her son his life. After coming face-to-face with Phil, Sharon furiously launches at him, prompting Ian and Kathy to intervene.Still eager to talk to his strangled wife afterward, Phil later kicks Ian’s door down and is unable to defend himself as Sharon starts to hurt his insults. With the situation coming out of hand, Ian calls the police. However, Phil is nowhere to be found by the time they arrive.

Phil nurses a drink at the Mitchells, but he’s stopped in his tracks and forced to hide when the cops arrive. As Phil seeks shelter at The Arches, Sharon comes to talk to him again— making Phil realize what he needs to do. Later, Ian is surprised by Phil’s revelation when he sees him in the Square, but what is Phil thinking?
