Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) and Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) have been through so much in EastEnders, but there’s more hardship ahead for the pair, as Callum’s efforts to support his boyfriend end up causing trouble where Ben’s business is concerned, and — as a result — Callum makes a huge decision. Ben continues to struggle with his loss of hearing, which prompts Callum to suggest that he learn sign language. However, Ben brushes his suggestion off, and he later finds himself distracted when Danny Hardcastle (Paul Usher) returns with an interesting proposition.
Ben pretends he can understand what Danny is saying in an effort to keep up appearances, and he’s desperate to ensure that the dodgy businessman doesn’t get wind of his hearing loss.
