CORONATION Street fans are convinced Todd Grimshaw is about to make a shock return to the cobbles after his mum Eileen randomly mentioned him.
The prosecutor was quickly written out of the show in 2017 after star Bruno Langley was arrested over charges that he sexually assaulted a woman in a bar.
He was sacked by soap executives after an investigation and then pled guilty in court to two counts of sexual assaults. The disgraced actor was required to complete a community order of twelve months and recovery program for forty days, and to sign the list as a sex offender for five years.
It is doubtful that Langely will ever be allowed back to retake the role with the soap being willing to recast the character that first appeared in 2001. Eileen opened up to friend Fiz in tonight’s show about how she was feeling low because of her son.
He had gone on the run in 2017 to avoid prosecution after he and boyfriend Billy was in the midst of a battle between them and the maternal grandma of their adoptive daughter Summer from killing a police officer. Eileen told her: “It’s the same every Mother’s Day or wedding. I hope that’s going to be the last I hear from him, but of course, I’ll never do that.” People quickly noted the apparently odd reference as a possible hint that he’d be coming back to Weatherfield early.
